FEATURES AND BENEFITS OF ATTENDING

This event is an opportunity for students to participate in motivational general sessions, professional development, and career planning workshops.

Program Highlights:

  • Conference Tracks – All attendees will have the opportunity to hone their business skills in an area of interest to them. During registration, students will register to deep dive into one of the following tracks:

  • Professional Development Breakout Sessions – In addition to the deep-dives into a specific business skill, students will have the opportunity to develop professionally through additional breakout session including leadership trainings, workshops with college admission officers, roundtable discussions with other student leaders, and more!

Other program highlights include: 

  • Formal and informal networking with other like-minded students from around the country
  • Visit with college admissions officers
  • Enjoy dedicated time to explore Denver and its area attractions
  • (Optional Social) Thursday Night – FBLA Night with the Colorado Avalanche

Cancellation Policy

Please email Robert Smothers, rsmothers@fbla.org, with all refund and/or cancellation requests by October 19,2022. A 50% penalty will be applied if you cancel before October 19, 2022. There will be no refunds after October 19,2022.

Hotel Cutoff: October 19, 2022

NOTE: Hotel rooms are available in the FBLA block from Wednesday to Saturday. Any requests outside of that time period are subject to availability and current rates.

A credit card will be required to make a reservation. This card is held as a guarantee and will not be charged unless the reservation is cancelled inside the cancellation window (two days prior to arrival) or the guest arrives after the scheduled 6:00 PM day of arrival time.

If you are paying with the credit card used to guarantee the reservation, the card holder must be present with the card at check in otherwise a credit card authorization form must be filled out by the card holder and on file with the hotel prior to check in.

SKILL-BASED TRACKS (FRIDAY)

All attendees will choose to hone their business skills in a specific area of interest to them by selecting a track during the registration process.

Tracks will take place on Friday from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

NOTE: All tracks have a maximum capacity and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Member Tracks (Students)

Can You Hear Me? Communication & Culture Redefined (In partnership with BCollier Speaks)

A necessary tool in every leader’s toolkit must be communication. Though we all have different styles of communicating, what we say, how we say it, and even when we say it, matters no matter the size of your organization or team. Communication is the essential bridge that connects what you offer to the needs of others. This leadership track will explore the aspects of all communication from where you communicate to how to convince your team to speak the same language of your culture. You will find not only your voice but how to adjust the volume of your voice to fit your audience.

Entrepreneurship (In partnership with Junior Achievement of Rocky Mountain)

In this track students will take on the role of a CEO for a phone company. At the end of the session we will have a competition to see who has made the best decisions when it comes to their company profit margin, total value, innovation, marketing strategies, and much more. Leading up to the competition JA volunteers will present content to help everyone understand the functions of the simulations, decision making strategies, and more! *Students need their own laptop for this track.*

Ethics All the Way: High School Ethics Summit (In partnership with MBA Research and Curriculum Center)

We know life is full of difficult choices. Have you ever wished that you had a framework for thinking through the pros and cons? How to decide between right and wrong? Best and worst? Ethical and unethical?  Join MBA Research and Curriculum Center and Denver-area business executives for the Ethics All the Way: High School Ethics Summit where you will meet, hear from, and interact with business executives as you learn about ethical dilemmas in the work world and develop your own toolkit for resolving ethical dilemmas.

Financial Literacy (In partnership with Junior Achievement of Rocky Mountain)

In this track students will learn about how to become financially savvy. This track is meant to help students the breakdown of paychecks, the difference between a credit and a debit card functionality and the impacts to your credit score. How to protect yourself from fraud and what it means for your consumer identity. What impacts the purchase of your first car, should you purchase a new car or used. What are factors that come into play with your first home or apartment? At the conclusion of the sessions students will have the opportunity to play a simulation called JA Finance Park. The simulation will allow students to experience what it means to make financial decisions as a Teenager, Young Adult, Working Adult, and Adult Nearing Retirement. *Students need their own laptop for this track.*

Leadership (In partnership with Lead4Change)

The time is right for you to lead! Join us for a fun interactive experience designed to develop the leadership skills needed to create positive changes in your FBLA chapter and in your community.  You will learn how to work with community leaders and make change happen for the greater good.  Learn Leadership skills for life:  Start by Leading your chapter to greatness with Lead4Change.

Success in FBLA Middle School (In partnership with the FBLA High School National Officer Team)

*Designed for FBLA Middle School Members

Advance your FBLA journey with new opportunities for leadership growth. The FBLA Middle School track will be an opportunity for students to understand the fundamentals of leadership, communication, and FBLA. The High School National Officer team will teach students to become competent members through interactive opportunities and presentations. The day will consist of workshops strengthening confidence, teamworking, and leadership skills. Students will also get a chance to take part in fun activities like a tower building and public speaking!

Workforce Readiness (In partnership with Junior Achievement of Rocky Mountain)

In this track students will take a deep dive into understanding the factors that can get someone hired or possibly fired. JA volunteers will go through what it means to have a positive brand in-person, through social media, and what companies are looking for. Interviewing can be hard, but practicing is something anyone can do. I bet you’ve heard communication is key and we will practice what that means with hands on activities. Finally, the competition to conclude the sessions is putting students in the driver seat to developing a product to sell, but leadership styles can be a factor.

Adviser Tracks

New Adviser Academy (Brought to you by the FBLA National Center)

This academy will introduce new advisers (0 to 5 Years in  Experience) to tools to enter and manage the database, how they can leverage member engagement and educational programs to boost their membership, tips for working with competitive events, developing a program of work, and tips for overall local chapter success.

Returning Adviser Academy (In partnership with the National Business Educators Association)

Teachers need a fun and engaging ways to be reminded of tips and tricks that make the most of their time with students and contribute to healthy and sustaining career in teaching.  This track, offered in partnership with the National Business Education Association, shares insightful tips, tricks, research, and just fun experiences that will help you enjoy your life and work as a business educator.
